Fun, little puzzle book

This is a fun, little book of puzzles of varying degrees of difficulty. The trick to most of them is to not assume anything; think outside the box. You don't need special math ability or loads of knowledge about science. If you really take the time to think and experiment, you should be able to solve most of these puzzles, and the ones you don't will make you slap your head and say, "why didn't I think of that?"
I read it on my Kindle Touch and on my Ipad, and had no Kindle issues with either.

An interesting little book of puzzles

An interesting little book of puzzles. A good mix of easy and hard. There were some I had to scratch my head over for a while and only a few of those did I read the answer and think "well that's a bit of a stretch". Not the best book of puzzles I've seen but there were very few that I'd heard before and there were some gems I'll use again.

I love all of Wiseman's books, and this puzzle book is no exception. It is a lot of fun to lounge around and think about some puzzles, my husband and I were looking at some together the other day. A great value, and a good time! :)

The chords, the piano, the notes on the page are all right- but the lyrics are not correct. At least, they aren't the ones that fans of Leonard Cohen would recognize. It may be some other version that Hal Leonard didn't feel a need to disclose on the cover of the music.

About the Author
Erma Bombeck (1927 1996) was one of the best-loved humorists of her day, known for her witty books and syndicated columns. In 1967, she published "At Wit s End", a collection of her favorite columns. Bombeck would go on to write eleven more books, including "The Grass Is Always Greener Over the Septic Tank" (1976), "If Life Is a Bowl of Cherries, What Am I Doing in the Pits?" (1978), and "Aunt Erma s Cope Book" (1979). Her books were perennial bestsellers, and helped bolster her reputation as one of the nation s sharpest observers of domestic life. She continued writing her syndicated column until her death in 1996.

Life is still life...

This book shows a little of the effects of the changing world since the time it was written. But it is still well written and it's still funny.
That's because though we have other things to worry about, some basic things stay the same. And maybe it's not stated in the current trend of the week, but life is still life and family is still family.
So buy this book, read a bit and see if you don't laugh out loud over it. I'm betting you will.

Funny, warm and true!

I am on an Erma Bombeck kick ~~ and to be honest, this one is my favorite. I have rated all the others a five but if I could rate this one a ten, I would. It's funny, it's warm and it's loving as well as full of statire. I love statire. It's not the mushy warmth you'd think you're getting. Even if it is a bit dated (I grew up in the 70s & 80s) ~~ the insights are still true today.

This book made me laugh and made me cry. I think my absolute favorite chapter would be: I am Laughing So Hard that I Can't Stop Crying. I think I cried and laughed throughout that whole chapter. There's one where the father grumbles about the grass being torn up because of the wading pool, the sledding parties and beach parties. Then there's the one where it says, I love you enough to say no .... truths that my parents have always said to me and truths that I plan to pass onto my kids.

This book is heartfelt and witty. I wish there are more writers like Erma still out there. Sometimes, it seems like not everyone has a sense of humor anymore about life ~~ and even though life was hard, Erma made it all worthwhile. It still rings true today.

Erma Bombeck was, hands down, the funniest humorist of her time. Even today, her work is still some of the best ever written.
